Spontaneous Iliopsoas Hematoma: A Rare Complication of Anticoagulant Use

چکیده
507 them just had fluid accumulation and no foreign body granuloma. This rarity of the foreign body granuloma formation makes our case worthy of report. In conclusion, although bioabsorbable implants have many advantages, we suggest paying considerable attention to their disadvantages such as their low strength and tendency to cause foreign body reactions. Moreover, hands require the ability to perform a large number of motions and need to have more extensive weight-bearing features than other body sites; therefore, bioabsorbable implants might not be appropriate for use in the treatment of hand fractures. In conclusion, we suggest that a foreign body granuloma ought to be considered in the differential diagnosis of any mass occurring after the use of bioabsorbable implants in the treatment of metacarpal fractures.

BACKGROUND Spontaneous bilateral iliopsoas hematomas is a rare complication after anticoagulant therapy. Furthermore, the onset of bilateral iliopsoas hematoma is unknown because the causes are unclear. CASE PRESENTATION A 65-year-old man on anticoagulant therapy after mechanical aortic valve replacement was admitted after presenting with severe pain in the left flank and abdomen. Abdominal C...
متن کاملCompressive Femoral Neuropathy Associated with Iliopsoas Hematoma Complicating Hip Hemiarthroplasty: A Case Report
Introduction Femoral nerve compression caused by iliopsoas hematoma is a rare complication after hip surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case after hemiarthroplasty. In this case, iliacus hematoma resulted from spontaneous bleeding favored by anticoagulant therapy. Case Report A 78-year-old female developed left groin pain associated with typical symptoms of femoral nerve...
متن کاملIliopsoas haematoma: a rare complication of warfarin therapy.
Iliopsoas haematoma is a rare complication that occurs in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy. The clinical manifestation of iliopsoas haematoma is non-specific. It can mimic orthopaedic or neurological disorders, including paraesthesia or paresis of the thigh and leg due to compression of the nerve plexus. Among the many available diagnostic modalities, computed tomography is the most use...
متن کاملBilateral iliopsoas hematoma: Case report and literature review
BACKGROUND Clinically significant spontaneous bilateral iliopsoas hematoma is a rare complication of anticoagulation therapy. Definitive treatment of spontaneous iliopsoas hematomas is not well-established and varies between observation and surgical intervention. The intramuscular hematoma causes severe pain, muscle dysfunction, and occasionally nerve palsy with the femoral nerve most commonly ...
متن کاملSpontaneous Iliopsoas Hematoma following Microvascular Free Tissue Transfer
Spontaneous hematoma within the iliopsoas muscle (SIH) is a rare complication most commonly seen in coagulopathic patients. Often, patients undergoing microvascular free tissue transfer are anticoagulated for anastomotic patency. Here we describe two cases of postoperative SIH following contralateral anterolateral thigh (ALT) free tissue transfer for reconstruction of oncologic head and neck de...
